Macau

Macau, is one of two Special Administrative Regions of China (the other being Hong Kong) and lies along the southern coast of mainland China. The government of Macau is dedicated to maintaining itself as an investor-friend environment, which it has established with its low tax rates, and increasingly open and diversified liberal market economy. Further, the country has established itself as an excellent entry point into the Asian region, firstly through its port access to and from the Pearl and West Rivers, and secondly through its increasingly close ties with mainland China.

These ties are solidified through the Closer Economic Partnership Agreement, which allows tariff-free access to mainland China for all products which originate from Macau, encouraging Macau based manufacture. In addition to industrial manufacture, Macau’s diversified economy continues to rely on the tourism industry, as well as textile exports. Further, the government has made efforts to privatize various sectors, including telecommunications. Owing to its international openness Macau offers very few limits on foreign investors’ abilities to invest in the booming economy; only the fields of education, news, and legal services impose any sort of residency requirement on professional services.

Neither foreign nor domestic investors must undergo any sort of investment approval procedure. Macau further provides incentives in the way of full or partial exemption from various forms of tax for companies, in promotion of export diversification. Therefore, Macau provides not only great incentives in the way of domestic procedure, but further allows direct access to the Chinese economy – one of the fastest growing economies globally.
