E-cigarette smoking is prohibited in offices, and closed spaces in UAE

E-cigarette smoking is prohibited inside offices and closed spaces across the UAE. The use of e-cigarettes is subject to federal law on tobacco control. The Ministry of Health and Prevention highlighted the dangers of consuming tobacco products including e-cigarettes during World No Tobacco Day.

The UAE government in its federal law had forbidden and penalized tobacco use. That is the sale of tobacco products to anyone who is under 18, Smoking in private cars in the presence of children under the age of 12, Smoking in houses of worship, educational institutions, health and sports facilities, the use of the automatic vending equipment, and devices for tobacco distribution inside the country. The Ministry of Health and Prevention blocks advertising and promotes electronic tobacco products with the help of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.

The World Health Organisation reported in the previous year that the consumption of e-cigarettes is on the rise and these products have been marketed to children and adolescents by tobacco companies. Tobacco companies use thousands of appealing flavors and misleading claims as a part of their marketing. The UAE-based doctors commented that e-cigarettes would create a whole new generation of smokers. The National Health Survey, in its report states that the prevalence of adult tobacco smoking has declined from 11.1 percent in 2010 to 9.1 percent in 2018. The UAE has is one of the lowest cigarette consumptions in the globe.
